Sygnature begins £1m expansion of facilities
Sygnature announced today that it has commenced work on a new research facility at BioCity Nottingham, UK. The £1m expansion is the start of a two phase project to create two new state-of-the-art chemistry laboratories to house medicinal chemistry teams. The facility, due to complete in August 2008 will be accompanied by further growth of the medicinal chemistry group.
“In creating the research facility we have incorporated aspects of design which foster highly effective communication and efficiency in synthesis”, said Dr Jonathan Williams, head of the laboratory design group. “The lab design will be around our business processes and culture; not the other way around.” As part of the project Sygnature will continue and increase its capital investment into cutting edge equipment which will increase the efficiency of the teams, such as flow chemistries, and further automation.

RespiVert selects Sygnature for Discovery Collaboration
Today Sygnature announced that RespiVert Limited has selected Sygnature Chemical Services Ltd to support two new discovery collaborations. Under the agreement Sygnature will provide medicinal chemistry resources to the programs aimed at identifying novel approaches to respiratory diseases.

Sygnature and Chroma Therapeutics success
Sygnature CEO, Simon Hirst has announced the successful completion of another hit-to-lead program, this time with biotechnology company, Chroma Therapeutics Ltd.
Chroma’s CEO, Ian Nicholson reflected, “With the aid of Sygnature Chemical Services, Chroma has been able to make rapid and substantial progress in several areas of our research. In particular, the two companies have collaborated to find candidates against a challenging inflammation target. The contribution of the Sygnature group has enabled us to move from a hit molecule to a substantial portfolio of potential lead molecules within a nine month period. Sygnature strengthens Medicinal Chemistry Team
Sygnature has announced that Dr David Adams, formerly Head of Chemistry at Neuro3D, and Director of Medicinal Chemistry at Vernalis, has joined the medicinal chemistry team. CEO Simon Hirst commented “We are extremely pleased that David could join the management group here at Sygnature. David’s track record in drug discovery is impressive and will further strengthen the scientific team at Sygnature. He has worked on programs from early hit identification, right through to CMC and IND registration. The result is over 75 publications including 30 drug discovery patents, with a particular emphasis in the GPCR and CNS fields."
David joins the chemistry team as Group Leader and will be acting as an advisor to most of Sygnature’s collaborations.

Prosidion Hit to Lead agreement
Under the services agreement, Sygnature provides parallel chemistry and libraries to support a number of drug discovery projects at Prosidion. Sygnature chemists in the BioCity Nottingham facility in the UK will continue to work with Prosidion medicinal chemists to optimize their chemical matter.

Pharmix renews drug discovery collaboration
Sygnature Chemical Services Ltd, a rapidly growing provider of high quality medicinal and parallel chemistry services, and Pharmix Corporation, a privately held US drug engineering company, announced the fourth renewal of their medicinal chemistry collaboration.
Under the collaboration Sygnature provides chemistry support to a number of drug discovery programs at Pharmix. Sygnature chemists in the BioCity Nottingham facility in the UK will continue to work with Pharmix to leverage their proprietary technology in pursuit of novel drug substances.
